The farm was established in 1974 by Ben & Tamie Grandstaff. Raising four children, Jeremy, Crystal, Dustin & Corey, and continuing to build the horse business have been a lifetime vision for the couple. Ben and Tamie were involved in the 4-H program for 18 years and enjoy the opportunity the International Buckskin Circuit presents to travel and compete as a family, enjoying the friendships made along the way. Although Buckskin/Quarters are the Grandstaff color of choice, we also enjoy working in the Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse Racing Industry.

Our Vision:

And now the dream comes true… After being involved in our own on farm breeding program for 17 years-we saw the need for a facility that would help the average horse owner with all their breeding management needs. In January 1999, S & G Stables opened their doors to a newly constructed Stallion and Mare Management Facility. Specializing in all aspects of the breeding program, we take pride in providing quality customer service, offering top-of-the-line stallion and mare care, artificial insemination, and shipping. With the breeding facility, boarding, conditioning, training, & sales, it is needless to say that the farm has become a full time job. As such, we are very proud of or work and give our best to insure our customers the highest quality & satisfaction possible in everything we do. You can be assured, as an S & G Stables customer, that quality care and going the extra "mile" is not something that we do occasionally; it is what we always consistently provide. That’s a promise!

Dynamic Breeze is as remarkable in his color and personality as the story behind him. Foaled and raised on our farm “Beezer” has touched our hearts from day one. A difficult delivery gave him a traumatic entrance into this world and we lost his Momma 5 days later leaving him an orphan. Because of his presentation at birth he had severe digital hyper-extension of the back legs. He spent 2 weeks in splints and wraps to correct the legs but nothing was working. Our farrier, David Byler, suggested corrective shoes that were hot glued. For several months we had a standing ritual of Ben laying Beezer on his side, pulling off the outgrown shoes and David gluing on a new set. Needless to say it was an exhausting 45 minutes for all! It worked and soon he was able to follow his surrogate mother for turnout and run with the other foals. In a few short months, he transformed from a ugly duckling to a beautiful silver grulla with dun factor galore. Our partner and mare owner, Ava Gardner, gave the go ahead to take him to the OSBA Fall Futurities and a star was born! As a weanling he earned his ROM in Dun Factor. For the next year, we campaigned Dynamic Breeze for Ava in Dun Factor, Halter and Longe Line. In September he was leading the nation in IBHA Dun Factor, 4th in halter and 4th in Longe Line and had earned the IBHA 2008 World Show Dun Factor Title- then tragedy stuck again. At the MABA Fall Futurity - just 1 point away from his Dun Factor Superior, he slipped and fell in the warm up pen - when he got up he could not put any weight on his right front leg. We made a six hour haul from Indiana to Cleveland, Oh to get the diagnosis - a fractured scapula (shoulder). The question was - could he recover? Dr Berthold gave us a strict regiment of complete stall rest and supplements. After 90 days x-rays showed some improvement and the fracture healing - at that point he was sound enough to attend a spring show to gain his remaining dun factor point needed for his superior. The rest of the 2009 show season was spent with him continuing the healing process and we bred two of our best color mares to him. In the fall of 2009, he started light training under saddle with Robin Murphy and returned back to the farm for the 2010 breeding season. He has since been released by the vet to continue his training to show in Western Pleasure for this season - he is now back at Robins and we are praying that he is able to return to the showring this season. Meanwhile he has sired a beautiful light dun filly and a grulla colt that is a spitting image of his sire. Beezer has tested positive for the black gene - no red factor.

One of the last of his kind. Chad will spend his retirement with Wally & Laura Burress in Kentucky. Wally was the assistant trainer for Chad during his racing career and is happy to have Chad in his keep again.
